The Art of Cosplay
Cosplay is the the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, or video game, especially one from the Japanese genres of manga and anime. Now on to the rest of the article after that bow tie definition. Cosplay is a beautiful and fun art form that brings people together from all races, cultures, religions, and creeds to celebrate one thing; FANDOM! Everybody is a fan of something and the gathering that happens globally during various times of the year known as a con, brings an amalgamation of fandom into a single event.
There are several things that make Cosplay so unique in my opinion.
- Detail! The amount of detail people put into their costumes year in and year out is amazing.
- Creativity! Taking a fandom well known and making it into something of your own creation is always fun to see.
- Fun! Cosplaying is fun period. Getting to dress up as your favorite character and walk around. People identifying you, calling out to you, and wanting to take pictures with you. This definitely makes you feel like a celebrity.
- Genderless! Cosplay is about being who you want to be. A guy can dress up as Princess Peach or a girl can dress up as One Punch Man and no one judges or bats an eyelash. This also allows a unique combo move with creativity, which some cosplayers use to create gender bend costumes.
Cosplay is about having fun, being respectful to all of your fellow cosplayers and meeting awesome people who share your same love.
Also I would like to give a special thanks to Kyo Crimson Cosplay (Zero Suit Samus) and Sara Justice Cosplay (Sindel)
